Day 3: Neuschwanstein

In Muenchen we saw this 39 euro tour to Neuschwanstein, and we wanted to go there so we decided to take it. We took the train again to Fuessen, and then the bus to the castle.

View of the castle from below the hill in the village of Schwangau

the village of Schwangau

Hohenschwangau, another castle in the village still owned by the Wittelsbach family, where Ludwig II grew up. According to the tour guide, he had a really weird upbringing. He and his brother weren't allowed to socialize with other children, were basically starved all the time, and their father taught them nothing about running a kingdom. No wonder he was cookoo...

Then we took another bus from the village up the hill to Marienbruecke, where we had a fantastic view of the castle. The tour we took was a little different, we could actually hike up to the castle, but the weather wasn't that great and only Sharon and Lyne hiked.

Beautiful view of Schwangau, Hohenschwangau and Alpsee from the bridge.

From the bridge we have to walk down hill a little bit to get to the castle. It really feels like you're in a fairy tale haha :P

We aren't allowed to take pictures inside the castle, but I don't really like the decor. It's in Byzantine style mixed with everything else with swans everywhere... It's pretty weird actually~~

After a visit to the castle we took another short bus ride to this garage where some bicycles are stored so we can take a bike ride to Schwansee. Too bad it was raining so we couldn't use the mountain slides :(

After the bike ride our tour ends. We took the bus and train back to Muenchen

When we got back to Muenchen it was already dusk. The sky was so colourful I had to take a picture of it. Bye bye Muenchen!
