Budapest: Day 3

I still hadn't seen much of Buda except for the short tour on the 1st day, and I had to meet the group at the hotel at 11:30 to go to the bath, so I woke up at 6:30 on the last day to see Buda.

Hungarian National Museum.

Grand Market Hall. Too bad it wasn't open yet so I didn't have a chance to go in :(

Gellert Hotel and Bath

Cute little kitty I saw on the way... I think it's abandoned because I saw boxes lined with blankets and little containers for food around :S Wish I could take it home but a loud truck passed by and it ran away... :( Wish I could have at least brought it to a shelter or something... Poor little kitty... I left it some yogurt I got for breakfast... I hope it's doing alright...

My best find: the entrance to the Buda Castle Labyrinth

Going down to the caves... It's hot and humid and smells of mold... The labyrinth is part of a 6-mile cave system both man-made and naturally formed by thermal springs.

The map... You need it! Or you'd get lost!

The labyrinth is not very well lit and drips water... There are lots of dark corners and gated off areas. I was really quite scared and afraid that things are gonna jump out of the dark or I'd get lost...

The labyrinth is divided into areas with different themes. This is the prehistoric part with paintings added on the walls

some creepy sculptures in the cave...

My way out! The labyrinth really was very cool! It's one of the best things I've ever seen! I heard that in the late afternoon they even turn off all the lights and you have to go through the labyrinth holding lanterns! I'd like to try that but I wouldn't wanna go alone... Just imagine if you could have a haunted-cave Halloween costume party here! How cool would that be!? Too bad they don't celebrate Halloween in Hungary... But the labyrinth is open for booking for private functions, so maybe I will have my Halloween party there some day? :P

The castle district with Matthias Church

Ruszwurm confectionery: more than a century old. I bought a cookie there. Think it's called a Linzer?

Waiting outside the bath. After my morning stroll in Buda and the castle district, I went back to the hotel to meet up with the group to go to Szechenyi Bath.

Bath lobby. Taking pictures isn't allowed inside, and I can't say that I enjoyed the experienced that much. I thought they would have some nice saunas and steam rooms, but instead they just have 2 or 3 heated pools outside. One of the pools has green tiles and rusts on the bottom, so it just looked like everybody had peed in the pool or something... (ew, I know...) They do have saunas but it was just so crowded with fat old guys that none of us went in... There were lots of people at the bath and many of them are older fat people with their body parts drooping over their bikinis and speedoes... And this older lady's boob even popped out of her bikini... I think I might be traumatized for life... And the change and shower rooms weren't that clean either... Good that I remembered to bring my flip flops with me... If I could choose all over again I probably wouldn't have gone, but I don't exactly regret going either since it's just an experience seeing what a Hungarian bath house is like.

With Regitse and Lykke from Denmark. We didn't stay at the bath for that long and we were all hungry after we left so we went to Burger King... (Yes, we should be trying something more Hungarian I know... What can I say...)

After filling our stomachs Regitse and I went for our last stroll by the water before leaving Budapest

On the bus on our way back we were given 6 different wines to taste. There was no crazy vodka drinking this time and thank god nobody puked. But I don't know if it's the wine, or I was cold at the bath or if I'm just tired from all this traveling, I got sick the next morning... XP It's really not fun and I'm still coughing a little right now...
